The roly-poly Gregg gained off-season recognition with a TV sports show on "Evening Magazine." He was perhaps the only ump ever to call interference on himself. In 1978 he bumped Cardinal catcher Ted Simmons in the act of throwing and subsequently nullified a Dodgers double steal. (RTM)
