On Opening Day, 1961, the bespectacled Grba defeated Baltimore in the first game ever played by the expansion Angels. The ex-Yankee reliever used a good fastball to win 19 games for the Angels in two years, 17 as a starter. (RTM)

» April 11, 1961: Ted Kluszewski's two home runs highlight the American League Los Angeles Angels first win, as Eli Grba beats Baltimore 7–2.

» May 12, 1961: At Minnesota, Angels P Eli Grba hits a 5th-inning solo home run off P Pedro Ramos, who then returns the favor in bottom of the inning. Ramos wins 5–4.
