»March 27, 1987: In what will turn out to be an extremely lopsided trade, the Mets send C Ed Hearn and minor leaguers Rick Anderson and Mauro Gozzo to the Royals in exchange for David Cone and minor leaguer Chris Jelic. Cone will blossom into one of the National League's better starters, posting a 20-3 record for the Mets in 1988.
»August 8, 1989: Mauro Gozzo pitches eight shutout innings in his ML debut as Toronto beats Texas 7–0 to go over .500 for the first time since Opening Day. The Blue Jays will eventually overtake the surprising Orioles and win the American League East.
»September 16, 1990:
Cleveland trades pending free agent Bud Black (11–10) to Toronto for Mauro Gozzo, Steve Cummings, and Alex Sanchez. Black will sign with the Giants on November 9.
