Garcia saw more and more action at shortstop with Baltimore from 1976 through 1979 as Mark Belanger's career began to wind down. He played 126 games for the '79 pennant winners, then tied or set three ALCS chances and assists records at shortstop. An unlikely hero in the Orioles' Game Three, 8-5 World Series victory over Pittsburgh, he went 4-for-4, driving in four runs - three with a bases-loaded triple. He had had only 24 RBI all season. Injuries sidelined him three times in 1980-82. He was a utility man for the 1983 pennant-winning Phillies, but did not play in the WS against his former Baltimore teammates. (MC)
