Gale was TSN Rookie Pitcher of the Year in 1978, with a 14-8, 3.09 record that remained his career best. His 13-9, 3.91 performance in 1980 was his only other winning season and helped the Royals to the AL pennant. He was hit hard by the Phillies in his two WS starts and lost the sixth and deciding game. (SFS)
