The swarthy forkballer won 8 and saved 12 with a 1.98 ERA for the Mets in 1971, his
best year. He had 57 saves in his career, and was coming off a strong five-win, nine-save
season with the Brewers when he was killed in a dune buggy accident on New Year's
Day, 1977.

The Mets Danny Frisella picks up his first ML win, but he's long gone when the W is posted. Frisella pitches six 2/3 innings before being lifted, then races the airport to catch a plane to take him to an Air National Guard meeting in California. Don Shaw picks up the save in the 3–2 win over the Pirates.
»June 25, 1971: Cleon Jones ties an National League record by drawing six walks, helping the Mets to a doubleheader sweep of the Expos, 4–1 and 4–2. Jerry Grote has three doubles in the opener, and Bud Harrelson knocks in three runs in the nite cap. Nolan Ryan (7-4) and Danny Frisella (4–1) are winners.

The Mets trade pitchers Gary Gentry and Danny Frisella to the Braves for 2B Felix Milan and P George Stone, both of whom will contribute significantly to the Mets 1973 pennant.
»January 1, 1977: Brewers P Danny Frisella, 30, is killed in a dune buggy accident near Phoenix, Arizona.
