A catcher in the minors, Foucault switched to pitching after suffering a knee injury. Hurling sidearm, overhand, and underhand, he was Texas's top reliever from 1973 to 1975, recording all 12 Ranger saves in 1974 and 52 lifetime. (JCA)

» April 12, 1977: The Tigers send popular veteran DH-OF Willie Horton to Texas for P Steve Foucault. Both players will move on after one season.

» May 16, 1978: The Tigers top Seattle, 4–2, in 16 innings, winning on a home run by Lance Parrish. Steve Foucault, who pitches the last three innings, gets the win. Relief ace John Hiller tosses six 2/3 shut out innings. The M's Ruppert Jones ties a major-league record for CF by making 12 putouts.
