FROM THE BASEBALL CHRONOLOGY
» June 30, 1994: In Montreal's 7-3 victory over the Giants, SF OF Darren Lewis commits an error, allowing Cliff Floyd's basehit to skip under his glove. It is Lewis' 1st error in 392 major league games (938 chances), and his 1st since May 10, 1991, at Triple-A Phoenix.

» March 26, 1997: The Marlins acquire OF Cliff Floyd from the Expos in exchange for P Dustin Hermanson and OF Joe Orsulak.

» August 26, 1998: Florida's Derrek Lee, Kevin Orie, and Cliff Floyd hit consecutive home runs in the 9th inning of a game with St. Louis. The Marlins, who were trailing 6–0 at the time, go on to tie the game with six runs, then win, 7–6, with a run in the 10th. Mark McGwire hits home run #54 for the Cards.

» May 31, 1999: The Cardinals defeat the Marlins, 5-2. With St. Louis leading 4-1 in the 5th inning, Marlin OF Cliff Floyd doubles off the scoreboard. When Florida argues that the ball cleared the wall, the umpires change and rule the hit a home run. The Cardinals then protest and the game is delayed for five minutes while umpires Frank Pulli and Greg Bonin study replays of the hit on videotape. The call is eventually reversed and ruled a double. The Marlins play the game under protest, though there is no mention of replay in the rule books.

» May 18, 2000: The Padres defeat the Marlins, 6-2. Florida steals 10 bases in 10 attempts in the game, falling one shy of the modern NL mark. Luis Castillo and Cliff Floyd steal three apiece, while Mark Kotsay and Preston Wilson each pilfer a pair.

» July 11, 2002: The Marlins send P Ryan Dempster to the Reds for OF Juan Encarnacion, IF Wilton Guerrero, and minor league P Ryan Snare. » July 30, 2002: Montreal OF Cliff Floyd is traded for the second time in three weeks, going to the Red Sox in exchange for minor league pitchers Seuny Jun Song and Sun Woo Kim.

» December 20, 2002: The Mets sign free agent OF Cliff Floyd to a 4-year contract.
