    FROM THE BASEBALL CHRONOLOGY
» December 9, 1991: The Expos trade P Barry Jones to the Phillies in exchange for C Darrin Fletcher and cash.

» April 28, 1996: Darrin Fletcher and David Segui belt grand slams and Montreal sets a team record for scoring by routing Colorado, 21–9. Reserve OF F.P. Santangelo knocks in five runs, to go along with Segui's six RBI, and Fletcher's 5. SS Mark Grudzielanek strokes five hits for the Expos.

» August 30, 1997: Yankee P David Wells strikes a familiar note as he threatens to punch out owner George Steinbrenner during a clubhouse argument. Reportedly, the argument began after the team's 7-2 loss to the Expos, when a play occurred that was similar to last year's ALCS. This time it was against the Yankees; Darrin Fletcher's gets a home run when a fan in right field reaches over and snagged the ball before Paul O'Neill could catch it. Wells opined to Steinbrenner that extra security should be added in RF to prevent this sort of thing, George answered that Wells ought to stick to his pitching. When Wells said that Steinbrenner could trade him, the owner answered that no one wanted the lefty. It was then that Wells joined the ranks of earlier Yankees who have wanted to flatten the feisty owner.

» August 27, 2000: Led by Darrin Fletcher's three home runs the Blue Jays beat the Rangers, 6–4.

» September 28, 2000: The Orioles roast the Blue Jays, 23-1, to eliminate Toronto from any possible spot in the playoffs. The 23 runs scored is a O's team record. The Orioles score 10 runs in the 4th inning, highlighted by Brady Anderson's 200th career home run. Darrin Fletcher hits his 20th homer of the year for Toronto, giving the Blue Jays seven players with 20 or more home runs on the season. That ties the AL record set by Baltimore in 1996.

» May 10, 2001: At the SkyDome, the A's outslug the Blue Jays, 14–8, as seven homers leave the park. Miguel Tejada hits a 3-run home run, the 6th game in a row he's homered at the SkyDome. Jason Giambi and Carlos Delgado match homers, and Brian Simmons and Darrin Fletcher go back-to-back.

» August 23, 2001: In a 6–2 loss to the Blue Jays, it is a busy night for Twins CF Torii Hunter. Hunter throws out consecutive runners at Darrin Fletcher and Homer Bush, both trying to stretch singles. Later in the inning he bobbles a ball for an error. Roy Halladay is the winning pitcher.

» April 1, 2002: In the opener at Boston, the Blue Jays take an 8–3 lead against Pedro Martinez and hold on for a 12–11 win. Darrin Fletcher, with four RBIs, hits a sac fly in the 9th for the win.

» July 24, 2002: Blue Jays veteran catcher Darrin Fletcher retires. Tom Wilson, with 68 ML games, is now the Jays vet backstop.
