After bouncing around the minors for seven years, Filer came up with the Blue Jays
in mid-1985 and helped them to their only division title with a 7-0, 3.88 record.
The starter spent all of 1986 on the DL but made it back to the majors with Milwaukee
in 1988, going 5-8 with a 4.43 ERA. He pitched three seasons for the Brewers, never winning more than seven games, and wrapped up his career with nine appearances with the Mets in 1992.
