Ferguson was 12-11 for the 1908 Braves but injured his arm. The next year he suffered through a 5-23 season, leading the NL in losses. (NLM)

» August 9, 1906: The Giants stop the Pirates, 6-0, with Christy Mathewson and George Ferguson combining for the shutout. Lefty Leifield takes the loss.

» October 1, 1906: The Cardinals get whitewashed twice today, losing 3-0 and 2-0 to the Giants. Red Ames wins the opener and George Ferguson takes the nitecap victory.

» August 22, 1907: The Pirates cut up a trio of Giants pitchers to win 20-5 in a game mercifully called after eight innings. The Bucs notch 20 hits, gather eight walks, and the Giants add four errors. George Ferguson, the 2nd pitcher, gets the loss having allowed 11 of the runs.

» December 3, 1907: Friction between his catchers and the need to strengthen the Giants infield prompt John McGraw to trade Frank Bowerman, along with Bill Dahlen, Dan McGann, George Browne, and Cecil Ferguson to Boston for young SS Al Bridwell, veteran 1B and recently fired manager Fred Tenney, and reserve C Tom Needham.

» September 22, 1910: In the 2nd game of a DH at Cincinnati, Boston P George Ferguson hits a grand slam off Jack Rowan, in the 3rd inning, as Boston beats the Reds, 7–5. It is Ferguson's only ML homer.
