Falls broke in as a copyboy for the Associated Press in 1946, then went on to cover
baseball for three Detroit newspapers, the most recent being the News. Falls was a longtime Sporting
News correspondent, and his writing reflects a sympathetic personality and a willingness to reveal his own emotions.
