As a political science major at the University of Texas, Evans was a member of the debating team. He was the plate umpire in the longest AL game by time (8 hours, 6 minutes) in Chicago on May 8, 1984 (finished May 9), when the White Sox beat the Brewers 7-6. (RTM)
