FROM THE BASEBALL CHRONOLOGY
» November 10, 1999: The Padres trade P Andy Ashby to the Phillies for RHPs Carlton Loewer, Steve Montgomery, and Adam Eaton. Loewer will break his leg in January while hunting and not pitch in the majors till June 2001.

» August 6, 2000: The Padres defeat the Cubs, 8-6, behind rookie Adam Eaton, who gives up two runs in seven innings. Another rookie, Dan Garibay, takes the loss. In front of his home-town fans 1B Mark Grace records his first 5-hit day, going 5-for-5 for Chicago, with two doubles and a home run. Grace had his 1st ML hit and his first home run in San Diego.

» September 20, 2000: San Diego Adam Eaton is staked to a 15–4 lead, and the Padres hang on for a 15–11 win over the Rockies Dave Magadan and Mike Darr each have four RBIs, while the Rock's Ben Petrick knocks in four runs without a hit, likely a ML record. Petrick has a sac fly, bases loaded walk, and two ground outs.
