Dyer caught for the Arizona State 1965 and 1966 College World Series champs as a teammate of Reggie Jackson, Sal Bando, and Joe Keough. A poor hitter, he was a backup for Jerry Grote on the 1969 World Champion and 1973 NL champion Mets, and for Manny Sanguillen on the division-winning 1975 Pirates. Dyer caught a career-high 93 games for Pittsburgh in 1977. He later became a minor league manager and ML coach. (MC)
