This modestly talented infielder joined the Senators' starting lineup in 1949, and hit a career-high .273. The slogan "We'll win plenty with Dente" circulated through the stands at Griffith Stadium early in the campaign when the team led the league, but the catchy rhyme became more famous than the player. After the 1951 season, Dente was relegated to a utility role with the White Sox and Indians. (RL)
