» August 8, 1996: The Rangers acquire P John Burkett (6–10) from the Marlins in exchange for P Ryan Dempster and a player to be named.

» September 7, 1999: Two native Canadian pitchers oppose each other as starters for the first time in 26 years. Florida Marlin pitcher Ryan Dempster from British Columbia faces off against Dodger Eric Gagne who hails from Quebec. The two roomed together while competing on Canada's national baseball team. The battle is a draw with neither pitcher getting the decision, but the Marlins win, 2–1.

» May 7, 2000: The Marlins calcimine the Mets, 3-0, behind Ryan Dempster's 1-hitter. C Mike Piazza's 6th inning double is NY's only hit.

» July 1, 2000: On Canada's 133rd birthday, Florida's Ryan Dempster and Montreal's Mike Johnson hook up in a rare matchup of Canadian starters. Dempster comes out on top as the Marlins defeat the Expos by a score of 6–5. Johnson hails from Edmonton, Alberta, while Dempster is a native of Sechelt, British Columbia. Theirs is the first matchup of Canadian-born starters since last September when Dempster took on Eric Gagne of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

» July 25, 2001: The Mets leave a club-record 16 runners on base, but still beat the Marlins, 5–2, pinning the loss on Ryan Dempster. Glendon Rusch is the winner. Lenny Harris ties Smoky Burgess for 2nd place on the all-time pinch hit list when he doubles.

» October 5, 2001: The Braves clinch their 10th straight division championship with a 20-3 rout of the Marlins. Kevin Millwood gives up a field goal in the 1st inning, but the Braves score 10 runs in the bottom of the frame. Ryan Dempster allows just one hit but walks six before leaving in the 1st. Reliever Benito Baez gives up eight runs in one 2/3 IP, and OF John Mabry tries his hand in the 9th, but gives up five runs while recording just one out. Chipper Jones has a triple and grand slam and reaches the 100 RBI mark for the 6th straight year.

» July 11, 2002: The Marlins send P Ryan Dempster to the Reds for OF Juan Encarnacion, IF Wilton Guerrero, and minor league P Ryan Snare. Florida then sends OF Cliff Floyd, Guerrero, minor league P Claudio Vargas and $1.5 million to the Expos in exchange for Ps Carl Pavano and Graeme Lloyd, IF Mike Mordecai, and minor leaguer Justin Wayne.
