Dedmon was drafted four times before signing with Atlanta. Throwing a sinker and adding a knuckle curve, he averaged 56 games a year as a long reliever in 1984-87, but lacked the control and consistency to be a stopper, and was traded to Cleveland in 1988. (JCA)
