Davidson was a stylish reliever with a good fastball who admitted to using a spitter
now and then. He also had an excellent curveball, which he threw sidearm to lefthanded
batters. In 1966 he made 54 appearances for the Reds. Prior to the 1967 season, he
was at a bar when his estranged wife shot him in the stomach and chest with a .25
caliber pistol. He pitched only parts of two seasons after his recovery.
