Intermittent arm trouble caused the Astros to give up on Darcy after five years in their farm system. Dealt to the Reds, he was a one-year wonder, going 11-5 with a 3.57 ERA for the 1975 World Champions. The next year his arm problems returned and he was soon out of the majors. (MC)

» February 18, 1974: The Astros trade Pat Darcy to the Reds for Denis Menke. Playing in Houston for the second time, Menke will hang it up after hitting .103 in 30 games.

» April 7, 1975: The Big Red Machine opens against the Dodgers in Cincinnati and goes 14 innings before George Foster's infield hit scores Cesar Geronimo with the winner, 2–1. Pat Darcy is the winner over Charlie Hough.

» July 1, 1975: The Reds win the 4th extra inning game in five days, beating the Astros 8–7 in 15 innings. Pat Darcy is the winner.

» July 30, 1975: Pat Darcy pitches a complete game win, 6–1, over the visiting Giants. It's the first CG by a Reds pitcher in 45 games.

» March 28, 1977: The Reds swap Joel Youngblood to the Cardinals for P Bill Caudill. Tomorrow, they'll send Pat Darcy to the Cards for Mike Caldwell.
