After three years as an effective reliever, 6'5" Casey Cox went 8-12 as a starter
in 1970. Off to a 0-3 start in 1971, Cox asked Washington manager Ted Williams to
return to the bullpen. He won five and saved seven, and Williams declared that "Casey
might be the best righthanded relief pitcher in the league." Cox was out of the majors
two years later.
