» September 5, 1960: The first-place Pirates split with the Braves, winning 9–7 before losing, 7–1. The Bucs rout Spahn in the opener scoring seven runs in the 4th after the Braves had knocked out starter Bob Friend. Bob Buhl is the winner in the nitecap, scattering seven hits. Chuck Cottier has three doubles and three RBIs to back Buhl. Haddix is the loser and gives way to Diomedes Olivo, who makes his ML debut in relief. At age 41, or thereabouts, Olivo is the oldest rookie in ML history except for Satchel Paige. The IL MVP pitches two runless innings.

» December 7, 1960: Detroit trades 2B Frank Bolling and a player to be named later (OF Neil Chrisley) to Milwaukee for OF Billy Bruton, 2B Chuck Cottier, C Dick Brown, and P Terry Fox.

» May 11, 1962: With two outs in the 6th, the Senators explode for 11 runs to rout the Orioles, 12–1. Gene Woodling's grand slam is the big blow, but Chuck Cottier has two doubles in the inning. Dave Stenhouse (2–0) pops out to end the inning,

» September 1, 1984: Two weeks after being given a vote of confidence by club owner George Argyros, Mariners manager Del Crandall is fired and replaced by 3B coach Chuck Cottier.

» May 8, 1986: Chuck Cottier is fired as manager of the Mariners. He will be replaced tomorrow by Dick Williams, who resigned as manager of the Padres in February.
