The son of Ed Connolly, a Red Sox catcher in 1929-32, Ed, Jr., made the majors in
1964, the year after his father's death. He went 4-11 for Boston that year with a
4.91 ERA, mostly as a starter. The fireballer lacked control, and after resurfacing
briefly with the 1967 Indians he faded.
