Comer was said to have three pitching speeds - slow, slower, and reverse. Relying
on his changeup, Steve led all righthanded pitchers with 17 wins in 1979. A sore
shoulder curtailed Comer in 1980, but he fashioned one more good season in relief
the following year. Steve was handicapped by having no other pitches to complement
his change. He became pitching coach of the Indians in 1987.
