Collum shut out the Cubs in his first ML game as a Cardinal rookie in 1951, and in 1956 he saved seven and won six out of the Cardinal bullpen. In between, he pitched nearly three full seasons for the Reds, winning 23 and losing 22. (FK)

» September 21, 1951: Rookie P Jackie Collum of the Cardinals hurls a 6–0 two-hitter against the Cubs in his first start.

» April 28, 1954: The Reds Jackie Collum allows one hit in six /13 innings of shutout relief in an 8–4 win over the visiting Pirates.

» January 31, 1956: The Reds send Jackie Collum to the Cards for pitchers Brooks Lawrence and Sonny Senerchia. Lawrence, who finished the year at 5–1 after spending time in the minors, will open the 1956 season with 13 straight victories.

» December 10, 1956: The Cubs buy perennial backup C Charlie Silvera from the Yankees. They also trade pitchers Sad Sam Jones and Jim Davis, IF Eddie Miksis, and C Hobie Landrith to the Cardinals for pitchers Tom Poholsky and Jackie Collum, C Ray Katt, and a minor league pitcher.
