Collins was the second baseman for successive Brooklyn pennant winners (American
Association in 1889, NL in 1890). He led the AA in doubles (31) in 1888 and runs
scored (148) in 1890, and stole 328 bases in his short career. Two seasons later,
he died of typhoid fever.
