FROM THE BASEBALL CHRONOLOGY
» August 3, 1990: Cleveland's Tom Candiotti has his no hitter spoiled in the 8th inning when New York's Oscar Azocar singles. Candy leaves the game then and takes the loss as the Tribe drops a 6–4 decision. In just his 2nd week in the majors, Cleveland's Alex Cole ties a major-league record by stealing seven bases in two games. He set the club record by swiping five bases against the Royals on August 1st.

» July 3, 1992: Cleveland sends washout speedster Alex Cole (.206 with nine stolen bases) to the Pirates for Tony Mitchell and John Carter. For Cole, it is his 4th team in three years. He'll vacate Pittsburgh for the Rockies after the season.

» September 15, 1992: At St. Louis, the Pirates edge the Cards, 4–2 behind homers by Jeff King, Barry Bonds, and Andy Van Slyke. Mark Clark (3–10) is the loser. Bucs RF Alex Cole helps with a 9–3 putout in the 2nd inning to nip Clark.
