This native Canadian was a durable starter and reliever who went 12-12 for St. Louis in 1971 to earn NL Rookie Pitcher of the Year honors. He won at least 10 games seven straight years, with 14 victories for the Cardinals in both 1972 and 1973. He was 46-41 in four-plus seasons with Boston. He was used mostly in relief with the Rangers and Brewers. (EW)
FROM THE BASEBALL CHRONOLOGY
» September 26, 1975: Luis Tiant and Reggie Cleveland toss 4–0 shutouts at Indians in both ends of doubleheader. This is the first back to back Red Sox shutouts since 1956 and the 2nd in 42 years. Aase and Cleveland will repeat the twinbill shutout on Sept. 5, 1977 beating the Blue Jays at Toronto, 8–0 and 6–0.

» June 12, 1977: The Red Sox sweep their first doubleheader in two years, beating Texas 3–2 and 2–0, behind Reggie Cleveland and Luis Tiant. The two were the winners of the last twinbill sweep, on September 26, 1975, when Boston clinched a tie for the Eastern title.

» September 25, 1977: Detroit pounds out 18 hits against Boston's Reggie Cleveland, but they still lose 12–5. Carlton Fisk, Butch Hobson and Carl Yastrzemski all homer for Boston, giving the Sox a total of 210.

» June 15, 1978: Hours after the game, the Red Sox sell popular OF Bernie Carbo to the Indians, the last of what the press dubbed as "The Outlaws." Others reportedly out of favor with manager Don Zimmer and dealt off include Fergie Jenkins, Jim Willoughby, Rick Wise, and Reggie Cleveland. Sam Bowen is called up to take Carbo's place.

» June 20, 1978: Toronto is defeated for the 3rd consecutive game by a Canadian-born pitcher. The Blue Jays lose to John Hiller of Detroit, after having previously tasted defeat at the hands of Ferguson Jenkins and Reggie Cleveland of the Texas Rangers.
