The Scottish-born spitballer went 25-6 for Scranton (New York State League) in 1910, and was purchased by the Phillies. He was 13-10, his ML best, in 1911. He pitched well in Game Four of the 1915 World Series, but lost to the Red Sox 2-1. (AL)

» May 13, 1911: At Philadelphia, Grover Alexander relieves George Chalmers with the score 1-1 in the 9th and shuts out the Reds for eight innings. The Phils finally score in the 16th to win it.

» April 27, 1914: The Giants nip the Phillies, 4–3, with Christy Mathewson taking the decision against George Chalmers.

» October 12, 1915: In game 4, 41,096 see another 2–1 Boston victory, as Ernie Shore gets the win over surprise starter George Chalmers. Gavvy Cravath triples and scores the Phils' lone run.
