FROM THE BASEBALL CHRONOLOGY
» September 22, 2000: The Reds defeat the Astros, 12-5, in a contest which sees nine home runs hit—6 by Cincinnati and three by Houston. Houston's homers give the team 240, for a new NL mark for a single season. Cincinnati's Juan Castro, Michael Tucker, and Sean Casey all homer off Jose Lima in the 2nd inning, giving Lima a new NL record of 47 home runs allowed on the year.

» May 24, 2001: The Cubs' Jon Lieber one-hits the Reds, 3-0, ending Cincinnati's NL-record streak of 208 straight games without being shut out. 2B Juan Castro gets the Reds only hit. The efficient Lieber needs only 78 pitches in the game.
