» May 18, 2000: The Padres defeat the Marlins, 6-2. Florida steals 10 bases in 10 attempts in the game, falling one shy of the modern NL mark. Luis Castillo and Cliff Floyd steal three apiece, while Mark Kotsay and Preston Wilson each pilfer a pair.

» May 23, 2002: Marlins' 2B Luis Castillo hits his 1st home run from the left side of the plate in his 600th ML game, pacing Florida to an 8–4 win over Cincinnati.

» June 20, 2002: Florida beats Cleveland, 3–0, as Marlins 2B Luis Castillo extends his hitting streak to 34 games, the longest ever by a second baseman.

» June 21, 2002: The Marlins defeat the Tigers, 4–1, as Luis Castillo extends his hitting streak to 35 games with a 3rd inning infield hit. Castillo's streak is the longest ever by a Latin player, surpassing Benito Santiago's 34–game streak on 1987.

» June 22, 2002: The Marlins score four runs in the bottom of the 9th inning to defeat the Tigers, 5–4. Luis Castillo hitless in four at bats to end his 35–game hitting streak.

» August 6, 2002: The Athletics down the Red Sox, 9–1, but SS Miguel Tejada's 24–game hitting streak comes to an end. The streak began the day after the All–Star break, July 11, and is the second–longest in the majors this year behind Luis Castillo's

» September 29, 2002: The Florida Marlins report their second–largest crowd of the year—28,599—thanks to the purchase of 18,000 tickets by an unnamed fan. Thus the Marlins end the season with an attendance mark of 813,118 just ahead of the Expos reported 812,545. The Marlins reward the fans with a 4–3, 10th-inning win over the Phillies. Luis Castillo, with three stolen bases in the game, scores from 3B on a foul fly. He finishes the year with 48 steal, high in the NL. The Marlins finish below .500 again, and have only finished above .500 in 1997, when they won the World Series. The Phils (80-81) finish below .500 for the 14th time in 16 years.
