Carr was a hard-hitting Negro Leaguer whose surviving statistics show that he batted .339 in 1921, .300 in 1924, and .370 in 1925. He compiled a confirmed batting average of .318 over five documented seasons, and led the league with 23 stolen bases in 1925. He usually played winter ball in California. In one season in Cuba (1926-27), he batted a league-leading .416. He appeared in two Black World Series for Hilldale, hitting .316 in 1924 and .320 in 1925. (JM)
