As the Braves' regular right fielder in 1902, Carney hit .270 with 75 runs, 65 rbi, and 27 stolen bases. His average declined to .240 and then .204, ending his major league career. He sometimes pitched, but was always easy to hit and lacked control. He coached four years at his alma mater, Holy Cross, and later became a physician. (NLM)
