A slightly built, slap-hitting Virgin Islander, Browne was the Rangers' 1987 Rookie
of the Year, winning their second-base job and batting .271 with 27 stolen bases.
He was hitting .197 in June 1988 when he was returned to the minors. Traded to the
Indians in the Julio Franco deal, he had his best season in 1989, hitting .299 with
83 runs scored.
