The man who replaced Steve Garvey at first base for the Dodgers had impossible press
notices to live up to. Called "the best power hitting prospect the Dodgers have had
since Duke Snider" after breaking home run records at Albuquerque and San Antonio,
Brock most resembled Snider in his inability to hit lefthanded pitching. After being
traded to the Brewers, Brock cut down his stroke and raised his average at the expense
of some power.
