FROM THE BASEBALL CHRONOLOGY
» February 15, 1994: Ila Borders becomes the first woman to pitch in a college game. Appearing for Southern California College of Cosa Mesa, she 5-hits Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 12-1.

» May 31, 1997: P Ila Borders of the St. Paul Saints of the Northern League faces three Sioux Falls Canaries batters, and surrenders three earned runs, in her professional baseball debut. The Canaries, who led 4-0 when she entered the game, to on to defeat St. Paul, 11-1.

» July 9, 1998: Ila Borders becomes the first female pitcher in history to start a minor league baseball game, as she hurls the first five innings, surrendering five hits and three runs, while registering two walks and two strikeouts, for the Duluth–Superior Dukes in their 8–3 loss to the Sioux Falls Canaries in the Northern League. Borders was tagged with the loss.

» June 30, 2000: Ila Borders, the first woman to play in men's professional baseball, retires at age 26. Borders was pitching for the Zion Pioneerzz of the Western Baseball League.
