A table tennis champion in his youth and a smooth-fielding, weak-hitting infielder over five ML seasons, Blattner became a baseball broadcaster after his playing career ended, working for the Cardinals, Angels, and Royals. As a player, his best season was 1946, when he hit .255 with 11 HR as the Giants' regular second baseman. (FS)
