Called Sugar Bear after a cartoon character on a cereal box, Blanks was Atlanta's starting shortstop in 1975. He was traded twice in the same day (December 12, 1975): from the Braves to the White Sox to the Indians, with whom he was a utility man. (JCA)
FROM THE BASEBALL CHRONOLOGY
» June 16, 1975: Coasting to a 9–2 win with two outs in the 9th inning, Reds P Don Gullett is struck on the pitching hand by a line drive off the bat of Atlanta's Larvell Blanks. The liner breaks his thumb and Gullett will be out of action for two months.

» December 12, 1975: After being a White Sox for two days, Dick Ruthven goes to Atlanta, along with Danny Osborn. Chicago receives Ralph Garr and Larvell Blanks. Blanks is then dealt to Cleveland for 2B Jack Brohamer. The Sox then trade P Rich Hinton and C Jeff Sovern to the Reds for P Clay Carroll, and finish the day by shipping Lee Richard to the Cards for Buddy Bradford and P Greg Terlecky.

» May 29, 1980: Dodger Bob Welch faces the minimum 27 batters in a 3–0 one-hitter against the Braves. The lone Atlanta base runner is Larvell Blanks, who singles in the 4th inning and is erased on a double play.
