Ted, brother of pitcher Homer (Si) Blankenship, was a stalwart Texan with the mediocre White Sox of the 1920s. In 1925, his best year, he was 17-8, and battled Grover Cleveland Alexander to a 19-inning, 2-2 tie in the Chicago City Series. He broke a finger in 1926 (13-10, 3.61) and was never the same after that. (ADS)

» October 7, 1925: In a cold opener of the annual City Series between the Cubs and the White Sox, the Cubs Grover Alexander and the Southsiders Ted Blankenship each labor 19 innings before darkness stops the game with the score 2–2. The Cubs then win four of the next five to win the series.
