Baseball America's 1984 Minor League Player of the Year, Bielecki led NL rookies in starts and innings in 1986 but went winless in the second half (0-6) and spent most of 1987 in the minors. His 18-7, 3.14 record for the 1989 Cubs was a major factor in their surprising division title. He lost a heartbreaker in the LCS, dropping the final game after taking a 1-1 tie into the ninth inning. He had a no-decision in Game Two. (ME)
