Berryhill relegated Jody Davis to the bench with a seven-HR, 38-RBI, .259 performance after being called up in 1988. He hit .257 with five HR and 41 RBI in 1989, but missed almost half the season with injuries. (JFC)

» June 9, 1987: At Des Moines, Iowa (AA) outslugs Louisville, 18–12. Cubs DH hitter Wade Rowdon is 4-for-4 with four homers, six RBIs and five runs. Rowdon clouts two dingers in the Cubs 9-run, 2nd inning. In his only plate appearance without a home run, Rowdon is walked intentionally, then Damon Berryhill homers.

» August 8, 1988: The Cubs and Phillies attempt to play the first night game ever at Wrigley Field, but are rained out in the 4th inning with Chicago leading 3–1. Sandberg's home run off Kevin Gross is erased and the first Cub homer in a night game at home won't occur till Damon Berryhill hits one on August 22.

» May 1, 1989: In SF, Cubs catcher Damon Berryhill hits a leadoff homer in the 12th, off Mike LaCoss, and Chicago wins, 4–3 over the Giants. Jeff Pico is the winner.

» September 29, 1991: Braves acquire P Mike Bielecki and C Damon Berryhill from the Cubs in exchange for P Turk Wendell and P Yorkis Perez.

» October 17, 1992: C Damon Berryhill hits a 3-run home run in the 6th inning to give the Braves a 3–1 victory in Game one of the World Series. The pitching matchup of Tom Glavine and Jack Morris is the 1st time that a pair of 20–game winners starts the opening game of a World Series since 1969. Glavine goes all the way for the win, while Joe Carter homers for the only Toronto run.

» October 7, 1993: The Braves even the NLCS at one game apiece by mauling the Phillies, 14-3, on 16 hits. The 14 runs are an LCS record. Terry Pendleton, Fred McGriff, Jeff Blauser, and Damon Berryhill each homer for Atlanta, as Greg Maddux cruises to the win. McGriff's dinger is upper deck.
