Barger's father wanted to give him an impressive-sounding Greek name, and chose Eros (the god of love) without knowing its source. Cy was sometimes impressive, as when he went 15-15 for the 1910 Dodgers, but he dropped to 1-9 two years later. he was 20-23 in two years with Pittsburgh of the Federal League. (NLM)
