Baldwin's 34 losses led the American Association in 1889, but he also won 27 that
year for sixth-place Columbus, and struck out 368 (a season high since topped only
by Nolan Ryan and Sandy Koufax). The next year with Chicago his 32 wins tied for
the Players' League lead.
