Baer was a columnist and cartoonist for King Features Syndicate. His column, "One Word Led to Another," ended with the closing of the New York World-Journal-Tribune. His quips were widely admired. Among the more famous : "Bodie was out trying to steal second. His head was full of larceny, but his feet were honest," and "DiMaggio, who popped out in his first four at-bats, could have done all his hitting in a chimney." (NLM)
