» May 2, 1939: It's showtime in Hollywood as Gilmore Field premieres with the Stars (PCL) losing to the Seattle Rainiers, 8–5. The stars are in the stands as well including a number who own stock in the team: Gracie Allen, Gene Autry, George Burns, Gary Cooper, Cecil B. DeMille, George Raft, Gary Cooper, William Powell, Robert Taylor, and the owner's wife Gail Patrick (Mrs. Bob Cobb).

» December 6, 1960: A group headed by movie star Gene Autry and former football star Bob Reynolds is awarded the new American League Los Angeles Angels. Fred Haney will be GM. Finley withdraws his bid for Los Angeles and offers to purchase control of the Kansas City Athletics.

» October 2, 1998: Gene Autry, former owner of the California Angels, dies at age 91.
