» September 11, 1992: The O's Mike Mussina (15-5) bests the Brewers Bill Wegman, 3–2 as both pitchers go the distance. Cal Ripken twists his ankle running out a 2B, but stays in the game. The O's will recall SS Manny Alexander, but Ripken keeps the streak going.
» April 19, 1996: The host Rangers show no mercy in running up the largest score in the A.L. in 41 years and trouncing the league-leading Orioles, 26–7. Sixteen of the runs come in the 56-minute 8th inning, their last at bat, and the largest 8th inning tally in baseball history. The inning is highlighted by Kevin Elster's grand slam off O's backup IF Manny Alexander. Manny, no Grover Cleveland Alexander, walks four including three with the bases loaded, but does manage to get an out. For O's reliever Jesse Orosco, it's a bad two days as he gives up 12 earned runs in two 1/3 innings: The two outings raise his season ERA from 1.52 to 3.40. Juan Gonzalez hits two homers and has six RBIs, while Dean Palmer (2) and Will Clark also add round-trippers. O's manager Johnson fumes when Mickey Tettleton takes 3B with Texas ahead 20–7: "I've seen it all, but guys tagging up from second with an 18-run lead, it's ridiculous." Texas manager Johnny Oates, who still carries a clipping from a 1983 IL game when Johnson, with a 9-run lead, had his team stealing against Oates' squad, counters, "Davey didn't have to use an infielder to pitch in that inning."
» July 15, 1996: Cal Ripken is shifted to 3B after playing 2,216 consecutive games at SS for the Orioles but his consecutive game streak remains intact at 2,243 games. Baltimore defeats the Blue Jays, 8–6. Ripken's replacement at short, Manny Alexander, will manage just a broken bat single in 18 at bats and after six games at 3B, Cal will return to shortstop.
» March 22, 1997: The Mets, loaded with middle infielders, add two more, acquiring SS Manny Alexander and 3B Scott McClain from Baltimore. The Mets give up hard throwing reliever Hector Ramirez in exchange.
» May 11, 1997:
The Mets ride pinch power to a 6–4 win over the Cardinals. Carl Everett, batting for Manny Alexander, hits a 2-run pinch homer in the 9th and Butch Huskey, hitting for Cory Lidle, follows with another pinch homer.
» August 8, 1997:
The Mets trade OF Lance Johnson, P Mark Clark, and IF Manny Alexander to the Cubs for pitchers Mel Rojas and Turk Wendell, and OF Brian McRae. The Cubs also waive Terry Mulholland to the Giants.
» December 11, 1999: The Cubs obtain OF Damon Buford from the Red Sox in exchange for IF Manny Alexander.
