Adams fashioned a 14-year career after spending 3 years in the military, but was
a regular only in 1952-53. He was a handy infielder and a dependable pinch hitter
who rapped six consecutive pinch hits in 1958. On April 19, 1952, Adams and Grady
Hatton led off a game with back-to-back home runs against Pittsburgh's Mel Queen.
Adams's brother Dick was with the A's briefly and his son Mike lasted parts of five
seasons with three different teams.
