Sep 20, 1973 - The Pirates lose 4-3 in 13 innings in New York and their lead over the Mets is cut to one-half game. A Wayne Garrett relay from Cleon Jones nails Richie Zisk at the plate in the top of the last inning.
Sep 7, 1973 - The 4th place Mets sweep a pair from the host Expos to move a half game behind Montreal. New York takes the opener as Wayne Garrett's leadoff homer is the only score of the game.
