    Jan 16, 2003 - The Phillies sign free agent IF Tyler Houston to a contract.

    Jul 23, 2002 - The Dodgers get IF Tyler Houston from the Brewers in exchange for pitchers Ben Diggins and Shane Nance.

    May 15, 2001 - The Brewers pound out 22 hits as they defeat the Phillies‚ 14-10. The Brewskis almost blow an 8-run lead before going ahead in the 10th inning on Richie Sexson's double. Tyler Houston gets 5 hits‚ including a double‚ for Milwaukee‚ while Devon White hits a grand slam.

    Jul 9, 2000 - Led by 1B Tyler Houston‚ who strokes 3 HRs and drives home 6 runs‚ the Brewers beat the Tigers‚ 10-3.

    Aug 31, 1999 - In three pennant insurance moves‚ the Astros obtain vet Stan Javier from the Giants for P Joe Messman; the Diamondbacks get IF-OF Lenny Harris from the Rockies in exchange for IF Belvani Martinez; and the Indians pick up the once highly touted Tyler Houston from the Cubs for P Richard Negrette. Houston will prove valuable at 3B.

    Apr 28, 1999 - Marlins P Archie Corbin ties the major league record with 4 strikeouts in the 7th inning against the Cubs. Tyler Houston, who was his 2nd K victim, reaches 1st on a wild pitch. Wilson Alvarez, on July 21, 1997, is the last to strike out 4 in an inning. But the Cubs win, 6–1 behind Steve Trachsel (1–2) and Mark Grace's 4 hits. Grace will finish the 1990s with 1,754 hits, the ML leader for the decade.

    Sep 12, 1998 - Cubs' OF Sammy Sosa becomes the 4th player in history to reach the 60-HR mark for a season when he slugs number 60 off Valerio De Los Santos of the Brewers in the 7th inning of the 15-12 Chicago win. The Cubs power 6 homers‚ including two pinch hit‚ to win. Tyler Houston hits a pinch HR in the 8th and a 2-run single in the Cubs' 5-run 9th. Orlando Merced finishes the the scoring with a 3-run 9th inning walk off pinch homer.

    Jul 26, 1996 - The Cubs defeat the Rockies‚ 17-4‚ as C Tyler Houston leads the way with a single‚ double‚ homer‚ and 6 RBIs. Sammy Sosa has his NL-leading 34th homer.

    May 20, 1996 - Led by Chipper Jones and Tyler Houston‚ each with 5 RBI‚ the Braves pound the Cubs‚ 18-1 to make Steve Avery's 5th win an easy one. Houston gets his ribbies when he replaces Fred McGriff in the 5th inning..

    Jun 5, 1989 - The Orioles select Louisiana State University pitcher Ben McDonald (14-3) with the first pick in the annual amateur draft. He'll sign August 19 and debut September 6‚ missing by three days being the first in this draft to debut. The Jays John Olerud‚ picked on the 3rd round‚ will debut September 3‚ singling in his first at bat. The next 3 picks are high schoolers: the Braves take Tyler Houston; the Mariners pick Roger Salkeld; and the Phillies choose Jeff Jackson‚ who hit .504 his senior year in HS but willnever play in the ML. The White Sox get Frank Thomas with the 7th pick‚ while the Angels take Kyle Abbott with the 10th‚ and Chad Curtis on the 45th round. The Dodgers use their 1st round pick on Jamie McAndrews‚ son of Mets P Jim. Mo Vaughn goes to Boston on the 23rd pick and then the Sox take Jeff Bagwell in the 4th round: this is the only time one team has taken two future MVPs in the same draft. Chuck Knoblach goes to the Twins on the 25th pick of the 1st round (he had been picked on the 18th round by the Phils in 1986‚ but did not sign. Picking 24th the Mets take Arizona All-American Alan Zinter‚ who won't make his ML debut until 2002. On the 4th round‚ the Twins select and sign P Scott Erickson‚ who was drafted but not signed in the previous 3 drafts.
