In his only ML season, the slick-fielding Pittsburgh native set a Pirate record by not hitting into a double play in 355 at-bats. His ML career was cut short by military service, but he played in the minors until 1963. After 19 years as the Pirate trainer, he moved with manager Chuck Tanner to the Braves as a coach in 1986. (ME)
